From Our Founder
Since graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, most of my 25-year-plus career has been spent at some of the top multinational law firms in the world, cultivating the legal and business knowledge, experience, judgment and industry relationships that have helped Brightstar become one of the preeminent RIA law firms serving the investment advisory community.
I care deeply about my clients, and I am passionate about their success. Investment advisers do a noble job of helping their clients achieve their lifelong goals. It’s our privilege to help RIA firms accomplish this mission while simultaneously achieving their own business objectives.
Serving as an investment advisor is hard work. I learned so much about the rewards and rigors of being an entrepreneur from my parents, who immigrated to the United States more than 50 years ago to pursue the American Dream. I’ve owned and operated several businesses, which has taught me the value of integrity, hard work and teamwork. It’s also taught me how to face challenges with courage and resolve, which is something I’ve had to do throughout my life given that I’m totally blind.
Despite the numerous challenges, being blind has profoundly shaped me, and equipped me with the perseverance and inspiration to launch Brightstar. Among other things, blindness has taught me how to deal with uncertainty, solve problems creatively, proactively plan and adapt as circumstances change. As a fellow entrepreneur, I understand that our clients face these challenges every day.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy traveling (I’ve visited more than 40 countries), playing guitar and keyboard, collecting sports memorabilia, adventure sports (such as skydiving and bungee jumping) and motivational speaking. I’m also committed to serving my community as a board member of a not-for-profit organization that provides free legal and counseling services to the underserved in New York City.
